Construction is now officially underway on the first-of-its-kind Noble Life New Norfolk Resort for the over-50s.
Civil works started this month on the $75 million resort that will deliver 186 houses in a luxury, gated-community that’s architecturally designed especially for the over- 50s.
The resort will have five-star amenities including a private clubhouse with a cinema, library, sports lounge, heated indoor pool, sauna, massage rooms, yoga studio and gym.
Noble Life Director Daniel Noble said Stage One of the resort was now officially underway and the architecturally designed homes have been released for pre-sale.
“Stage One will deliver 26 two and three bedroom homes with luxury services on their doorstep and the unrivalled picturesque surrounds of New Norfolk,” Mr Noble said.
“It really is a new way of living that hasn’t been seen in Tasmania before, and there is no better place for Hobarts newest luxury over 50’s resort than the Derwent Valley.”
Local businesses including Wilson Homes, Groombridge Civil and Harcourts and many others are helping to transform the 9.5 hectare country vista into a luxury resort.
“The project will create hundreds of local jobs, and inject tens of millions of dollars into the local community,” Mr Noble said.
“We’re really proud to see the local tradies, young apprentices and surrounding businesses, suppliers, and shops benefitting from this major construction project too.”
New Norfolk Resort has been a passion project for the Noble family since brothers Daniel and Roger first set foot in New Norfolk in late 2019.
The brothers are continuing their late father’s legacy, which has built retirement resorts in Queensland and New South Wales for almost quarter a century.
“We share our late fathers passion for creating beautiful communities from the ground up,” Mr Noble said.
“Together, we’ve turned greenfields into luxury communities where people can live their best lives, in places like Hervey Bay, Kingscliff and Rockhampton.
“When we first saw this spot here in New Norfolk, we knew instantly that there was something special here that we wanted more people to be able to enjoy and that’s really driven us every step of the way to reach this point of realising the project.”
Mr Noble said the project was back on track after suffering a devastating set-back when a wider project slated for the area, known as The Mills, went into administration in 2024.
“That was really devastating,” Mr Noble said. “Like many locals, we are one of the many unsecured creditors who lost money, so we really do understand that pain.
“But for us, the most devastating part is the thought that locals might put us in the same bucket as them – We are not The Mills, we’re Noble Life, and we pride ourselves on our long and proud history of delivering what we promise to our communities.
“Right now, we’re focussed on finishing what we started, and delivering an extraordinary, first of its kind, over 50’s lifestyle resort for New Norfolk and the wider community.
“We thank the community for its support, and look forward to making our vision a reality right here in the Derwent Valley.”
Stage One is set to be completed by September next year, with Stage Two and Three to follow.
